A bold Statement
For those travelling on the N3 Highway passing the Van Buuren off-ramp, towards Gillooly’s interchange and towards OR Tambo Airport, you may have spotted a rather bold and unconventional billboard for Armoured Mobility, a billboard that simply states, “Fear Fokol”.
It is a billboard that may have made you gasp with shock, made you slightly uncomfortable, perhaps snigger a little, or if the mood was right while carpooling, it may have made you and the friends break into a collective chorus…. Or it may have really done ‘fokol’ to you.
We understand it All.
“Fokol” in Afrikaans essentially implies a sense of nothing, of having northing or being nothing. While the word ‘Niks” is the direct translation to “nothing” in Afrikaans, “Fokol” is a commonly used Afrikaans slang word. This is our angle, our direction in taking a strong colloquial word and linking it to a bold message statement that speaks volumes.
What motivated us to go with this broad statement
How can we effectively and dramatically encourage an audience to listen, to reflect, to think and to act? How do we tell you that there are ways to keep your family and yourself safer on our South African Roads when the levels of crime are at an all time high.
When Driving out of home or the office, how many times do you check that the doors are locked and that valuables are hidden. When at a traffic light, how observant are you of the movement of bystanders and is your mind tuned to react if needed, playing multiple traumatic experiences in your head several times a day?
For those that are in a more targeted space, where your actions, words, or business success may make you a target for a hit or a kidnapping attempt, what lengths have you gone to be safe?
If you can relate to one of the points above, then this billboard message is for you. It is to show you, in a dramatic way, that you have the option to obtain a level of peace of mind while on the road when in a protected vehicle.
